At this week’s ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit near Washington, ARPA-E director Arun Majumdar made a compelling case for energy as the single most important challenge of our time.
“The future of the United States of America,” he said, “depends on three securities: national security, economic security, and environmental security. And the foundation of all these are innovations in energy technologies.”
The Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy, or ARPA-E, is the mad scientist research arm of the Department of Energy, modeled on the wildly successful Department of Defense agency, DARPA.
